Short answer: The 25 mm and 26 mm cubes are the two most requested shisha sizes and differ only slightly, so the right one depends on your bowl and heat management. Flat charcoal suits setups that prefer a lower profile.
Walk through any shisha supplier’s catalogue and the same two numbers appear: 25 mm and 26 mm. The gap is only one millimetre per side, but buyers still ask which one to choose.
25 mm and 26 mm in practice
Both are cube formats and both are common across the market. The difference is small, so the choice usually comes down to how the cube sits in your bowl and how you manage heat.
- A slightly larger cube has a little more mass and can hold heat a touch longer.
- A slightly smaller cube can sit more comfortably in some bowl designs and leave more room around it.
Neither is better in general. What matters is how consistent the size is across the pack, because inconsistent cubes make heat management harder for whoever prepares the bowl.
When a flat format makes sense
A flat rectangular briquette gives a lower profile. It suits setups where headroom under the foil or heat management device is limited. It is a less common format than the cube, so confirm availability and minimum quantities before you plan a range around it.
How to choose
- List the bowls you actually serve or sell for.
- Request samples in both sizes from the same grade.
- Test each in a full session, and note ignition time, how the cube holds its shape and how much ash remains.
- Check size consistency with a caliper across several cubes from the same pack.
